Cagayan De Oro City also dubbed as the City of Golden Friendship, is one of the fastest growing cities in the Philippines and is obviously becoming a favorite tourist destination.  Aside from the famous white water adventures , there are now more things to do in Cagayan De Oro. With that, more tourists are looking for accommodation from luxurious to the budget types like bed and breakfast and hostels. If you are a traveler looking for a budget friendly place to stay,  I think I found one that you might consider staying at and that is the Bed and Breakfast by Budgetel. 

It’s been years since I last visited this province and I got so excited when one of my cousins invited me to attend his wedding in the city. I immediately booked a plane ticket but the question was, where could I stay in Cagayan De Oro that is considered budget and is central to malls, bars and restaurant. I wanted to stay in a place that was close to the action.

After posting on Social Media, one of my Travel Blogger friend who is based in CDO messaged me and told me that I must try BED AND BREAKFAST by Budgetel since he thought it would suit my preferences.

I checked on the internet and from the photos it looked really nice so I gave them a call and luckily there was a single room available for Php 780 . That wasn’t bad at all, so Immediately booked via phone and told them that I would pay when I arrived.

I arrived early in Cagayan De Oro and caught a van just outside the airport that would take me straight to Bed and Breakfast by Budgetel. That wasn’t bad and I enjoyed the comfort of travellin straight to the B&B. For the information of everyone, LIFESTYLE DISTRICT is located along Corrales Extension where you will find some of the best bars and restaurants in Cagayan De Oro City.

You don’t need to go far to find Lifestyle District since it’s right next to Budgetel. I like the location because it’s so convenient and close to shopping malls and it’s one of the favorite local hang outs in the city.

The lobby was nice and spacious with plenty of sofas to rest while waiting to check-in which was very easy. There is Php100.00 refundable fee for the key-card and they also accept credit-cards which is convenient. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly and it was fast. You just have to ask for the password as it changes everyday.

It was a hot day so I could not wait to see my room and cool down. So I went up to the second level and went to my SINGLE ROOM for 1 Pax. . Upon entering, I told myself that this wasn’t a bad room at all. You have toiletries, towels, cabinets, television and a comfy bed with 1 pillow (If you want another pillow – Php 50.00) , spacious toilet and bath with hot and cold water. I mean for Php 780.00 that is actually a good deal. Oh, air con works well too!

On my second visit I stayed in a STANDARD DOUBLE for Php 1250.00 good for 2 Pax which was also not bad since everything you needed was there. It was a bigger bed because it’s for 2 and I liked the simplicity of it and it’s quite a relaxing room. From this side you may, hear a little bit of noise from the party going on outside but it starts to tone down by 11:00 pm which didn’t really bother me during my stay.

Breakfast at FAT MONK

Breakfast starts from 6:30 am until 10:30 am. When I went for breakfast, I was wondering where we would eat since I didn’t see any restaurant at Budgetel. So I went to the reception and they pointed out that breakfast is being served at FAT MONK which is a Bar and Restaurant next to the B&B.

Breakfast is a la carte style Filipino Breakfast like Tapsilog, Longsilog and the like. In addition you also get an instant coffee with it. (I hope they soon serve Brewed Coffee) .

Generally speaking, I really had an awesome stay at the Bed and Breakfast at Budgetel! First, the location was ideal since Lifestyle District is situated right in the center of the urban jungle. It’s within walking distance to Gaisano and Centrio Mall. Nice bars and restaurants are also inside the complex and it’s easy to walk around.

The rooms I had were really nice and I had a very comfortable sleep and nice shower which I was really after, and most of all, all this for the price I considered within budget. I am so happy I stayed here and I think I made a great choice!
