Beaches and Tourist Spots in CALATRAVA ROMBLON

Spread the love

The Province of Romblon has been on my bucket list for so long. I’ve heard so many good reviews and how pristine the province is. With so many beautiful places, beaches, delicious food, and very welcoming people, I was just so humbled to finally get invited to explore Romblon.

In collaboration with the Department of Tourism MIMAROPA , Local Government Units (LGU’s), Dream Favor Travel and Tours and Cebu Pacific Air, we went to the Northernmost part of the island, the MUNICIPALITY OF CALATRAVA on the Island of Tablas. This island is considered to be the biggest island in Romblon and also where the airport is located.

To be honest, I had never really heard of Calatrava before, this is why I was very excited when I heard we were going to visit this municipality, but at the same time I also did not want to set expectations. We traveled 2 hours from the town of Looc to our destination and when I saw the all the places we were going to visit when we were at their tourism office, I was really overwhelmed with the amount of things to do and places to visit.

Calatrava Island Hopping Tour

If you want to avail of the Island Hopping Tour, you can just go to the Calatrava Port Terminal where you will also find the tourism office. They can organize the boat and the other destinations you wish to visit in Calatrava for the whole day. Since we arrived just after lunch and with limited time, we asked them to take us to their top destinations.

ISLAND HOPPING TOUR – PHp 1500.00 x 10 Pax

So when visiting Calatrava, here are the top places that you must include in the itinerary.

GUINDAWAHAN ISLAND | Brgy. Talisay

Also known as the Guinadauahan ni Bendoy Island, this island is something worth visiting. It is also surrounded by white sand beaches and awesome rock formations scattered all around the island.  Tourists can also enjoy the rich marine life which is ideal for snorkeling.  The water is undeniably so clear, you could already see the coral in the shallow water.

TINAGONG DAGAT WETLAND | Brgy. Talisay

Entrance Fees – Php 20.00 | Kids – Php 10.00 | Cottage – Php 100.00

Another interesting and beautiful place to visit in Calatrava is located at the Kabebehan Point called the Tinagong Dagat. This lagoon has an interesting feature. When it is high tide, the lagoon is low tide and when it’s low tide, then the lagoon is on high tide.

When we arrived, it was very calm inside and we even saw a turtle in the lagoon sticking his head out. That was an experience! There are also cottages found inside if you want to picnic.

If you are brave enough, you can walk to the side and you will reach the rocky cliff which is also perfect for photos. But just a reminder, if you are scared of heights, better to think twice or hold on to the side because it is steep. But from this side of the cove, it was picturesque!

LAPUS LAPUS BEACH | Brgy. Talisay

Another beach to visit in Calatrava is the Lapus Lapus Beach. Ideal for picnics or any celebration because of the available cottages on the beach; tourists can also enjoy the white sand beach surrounded by beautiful rock formations. As we approached this beach, it reminded me of some islands found in Palawan. But Lapus Lapus beach has its own character and feel to it that I fell in love with.

AURELIO COVE | Brgy. Talisay

Entrance – 20.00 Php | Kubo – Php 100.00 | Tree House – Php 200.00 | Table – Php 50.00 | Kayak – Php 100.00 | Salbabida – Php 50.00

Another nice beach to picnic, swim and relax is the Aurelio Cove. The water is very calm and clear, the beach is very clean and it was quiet. They also have a restaurant there if you want to order some food. The families who live there were quite friendly too.

They also have several huts available for those who wish to stay overnight for Php 1500.00. Basic accommodation, but you will definitely have an island feel which is a good experience.

Final Thoughts on CALATRAVA

The moment we started our tour, I felt straight away that this Municipality has a big potential of becoming one of the biggest tourism contributors in the Province of Romblon. This town is gifted with an amazing group of islands, coves, cave systems, white sand beaches, rock formations, friendly people and so much more.  It’s a beautiful place and any one who visits this place would surely fall in love with the AMAZING CALATRAVA!
